IPOB Ringleaders Intercepted; Two Suspects on the Run
The Nigerian government has successfully intercepted a group of IPOB members in Owerri, a city in the South Eastern part of the country. Among them were considered ringleaders of the previously banned secessionist group.
The IPOB group had been staging regular protests every Monday demanding the release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently in custody under treason charges. Upon arrest, several members were apprehended; however, two individuals, identified as Ugwu Maxwell Ugochukwu and Eze Kenneth, escaped from the authorities.
The Imo State Police PPRO also stated that efforts are being made to restore peace across the state urging the public to assist in finding and apprehending the two individuals as they were deemed a threat to national security. It was made clear that the government would not tolerate any form of agitation from any group that jeopardizes the unity of the country.
The interception of the IPOB members sends a clear message to the general public that the government will not hesitate to take decisive actions to maintain law and order within the country's borders. The government remains committed to upholding its responsibility to protect the citizens and promoting unity, peace, and development in Nigeria.
